Roof-Top Shade Structure For Koh Samui

Our partners on Koh Samui & Koh Phangan, in the Gulf of Thailand, SIAM SHADE SAILS, joined with SHADES ASIA to provide a much-needed shade solution to the roof-top of a beachfront apartment/restaurant building at the iconic Fishermans Village on Bophut Beach, Koh Samui.

Our designers faced the normal challenges of seafront locations of high winds and corrosive conditions, and decided on a free-standing, self-bracing structure requiring no back-stays. Since the roof-top is never used in rainy conditions the structure’s canopy is made from shade-only fabric, in this case shade cloth – a long-lasting and UV-proof high density polyethylene knit (HDPE) – Alnet Extrablock.

It was important to ensure the structure did not detract from the stunning view.

The image below shows how we minimise the effects of corrosive salt air and very high UV levels on our products.

The approved design was manufactured and “pre-installed” at Shades’ factory in Phuket, then carefully packed and shipped to Koh Samui. The installation team from Siam Shade Sails had the job finished the following day. #gallery-9 { margin: auto; } #gallery-9 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 50%; } #gallery-9 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-9 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
