In April 2011 we installed a version of Shades Asia’s Phuket Sunset Salas on the pool deck of a beautiful Phuket villa. Several years later new owners asked us to relocate the structure to another patio, and to repaint the frame, changing its colour from grey to white.
We recently returned to this villa to install another shade structure, and our installation supervisor Richie took the opportunity to photograph this structure. After 5 years the frame, fittings and the fabric are performing exactly as our 10 year warranty suggests they should – basically everything is “as good as new”. #gallery-1 { margin: auto; } #gallery-1 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 50%; } #gallery-1 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-1 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
We can thank our world-class materials for this – best-quality European-made architectural fabric with strong high-frequency welded panel joins, marine grade stainless steel rigging, tensioning fittings and frame bolts & nuts, and the amazingly effective marine grade epoxy paint system from International Paints. Of course steel will rust if exposed to the tropical island environment, that’s why we choose to use marine grade paint, and it’s also why our installation crew insist on using nylon washers between stainless washers and paint, just to make sure there is no damage to the paintwork which can later turn into nasty brown rust stains.
We make standard size versions of the Phuket Sunset Sala from 3.0 x 3.0 metres from 10 sq metres (107 sq feet) to 29 sq metres (312 sq feet), all designed to be easy to pack, ship and assemble (product details here, or contact us and we’ll email you a beautiful 5-page brochure containing everything you need to know about this award-winning sala.
Choose your preferred frame materials (steel or beautiful tropical timbers like teak and hardwoods). Polished marine grade stainless steel fittings, and coloured architectural fabrics.
